"America's Got Talent" and "The Voice" Contestant Nolan Neal Dead at Age 41
Southern rock singer Nolan Neal has passed away at the age of 41, which was first reported by TMZ.
Neal appeared on season 11 of The Voice in 2016 on Team Adam Levine but was eliminated in the Knockout round.
He’d later appear in 2020 on America’s Got Talent season 15 making it all the way to the Judges’ Choice in the Quarterfinals when he was eliminated.
During his AGT appearance, Neal opened up about his father’s suicide and his own battle with substance abuse.
His cause of death has not been officially released but Dylan Seals, Neal’s cousin, told PEOPLE that the singer was found deceased in his apartment and “ultimately succumbed to his battle with substance abuse.”
“He was a natural-born entertainer and it was obvious to all of us from an early age. He blew us all away with his incredibly powerful vocal delivery and songwriting,” Seals said in a statement to PEOPLE.
“He was pure creative energy. He put everything he had in the music. He sang from deep within his soul.”
“I get up every day and ask for God’s will,” the singer told WBIR in July of 2020.
Our thoughts are with his family during this difficult time.
