Libraries Shut Door in Kirk Cameron's Face, Won't Allow Him To Host Kids Story Hour with Faith-Based Book
Kirk Cameron is probably best known for playing the role of Mike Seaver in the family comedy TV series, “Growing Pains.”
The successful actor became a Christian at the tender age of 17, according to IMDB, and has been a bright light in the film industry and in Hollywood ever since.
Cameron was also a part of the Kendrick Brothers’ Christian marriage-centered movie Fireproof, has a talk show on TBN called “Takeaways” and has been involved in many other live events that are marriage, family and parenting focused, according to his bio at his website.
He has been married for 31 years and has six children. Cameron and his wife host a summer camp for terminally ill children called Camp Firefly that’s an all-expenses-paid event.
His heart to reach children with Biblical values was most recently displayed through a children’s book Cameron has written called “As You Grow.”
The book highlights faith, family and the Biblical wisdom of the Fruit of the Spirit. It was published by Brave Books, which is very highly focused on publishing books that have a pro-God, pro-America message, according to their website.
Cameron was interested in holding book readings featuring his new Christian book at public libraries — something of an alternative, but non-combative view with a very different message from the drag queen story hours that many libraries have been hosting.
His publicist at Brave Books has reached out to 50 libraries. Every one of them have either flat out declined or ignored requests for a time slot that would allow Cameron to share his book with the community, according to Fox News.

Ironically, many of the public libraries that refused to allow Cameron free and equal time as an alternative to the LGBTQ message not only have drag queen story hour, but also have programs that affirm the lifestyle, and allow teens to gather and discuss their experience as a part of that community in present-day culture.
In some cases, there are even free clinics explaining how to fill out paperwork to change one’s gender and also update documents such as a birth certificate, driver’s license, passport, and social security card.
“This is proof that more than ever, we are getting destroyed in the battle for the hearts and minds of our children,” Cameron told Fox as a response to the library refusals.
“Publically funded libraries are green-lighting ‘gender marker and name change clinics’ while denying a story time that would involve the reading of a book that teaches Biblical wisdom. How much more clear can it get?” he asked, adding that, “We have to start fighting back, or we will lose our kids and this country,” he said.
Cameron and Brave Books said that with every purchase made at Brave Books, they would be willing to donate a book to local libraries from the Brave Books “Freedom Island” children’s book series, which focuses on pro-God and pro-family values.
