It’s definitely a positive statement about a Christian movie when it turns the head of Hollywood. Especially when Thanksgiving weekend is approaching.
“The Chosen” was referred to as “a rousing success” by The Hollywood Reporter because it earned 8.2 million from 2,012 theaters at a special-event screening.
The movie’s success this past weekend means it will continue to run in theaters through December 1st, according to Christian Newswire.
The movie also had a strong showing in over 300 theaters internationally.

“We have the ability to try new things, such as putting a TV show in theaters, because our fans are so passionate and supportive. Hopefully this causes others to check out Seasons One and Two,” said Dallas Jenkins, the creator of the series.
“The success of ‘The Chosen,’ Season 3: Episode 1 & 2 is the perfect example of how innovative the event cinema business has become and how hungry audiences are for faith-based content,” said CEO of Fathom Events Ray Nutt.
The show is reaching a wide audience, and is even having an impact on non-believers and those who are a part of Gen Z, according to The Christian Post.
“The thing that sets [‘The Chosen’] apart is how real and authentic all of these characters feel, how human they are, how flawed they are,” Jordan Walker Ross told The Christian Post.
Ross plays Little James, one of the apostles of Jesus. His character struggles with cerebral palsy and scoliosis, and so he walks with a limp.
He went on to give a bit of detail regarding how he feels “The Chosen” is impacting Gen Z.
“I think one great thing about Gen Z is they’re open to having these difficult conversations and asking the tough questions, and ‘The Chosen’ is the same. ‘The Chosen’ asks a lot of really difficult questions, like, ‘Why am I not being healed, but other people are?’ And I think that that resonates, and I think that Gen Z is a generation of thinkers and questioners and ‘The Chosen’ definitely leans into that. I hope that it has a lifelong impact on them,” he said.
“The Chosen” has been translated into over 62 languages, and it regularly ranks as a top-searched show on streaming platforms.
