Why Your Family Should Think About Canceling Disney+

It’s very rare to come across someone who doesn’t know The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Lady and the Tramp, and at least one Disney princess, twirling in gowns and wearing tiaras like every little girl’s dreams.

But underneath the magical and picture-perfect surface are an array of hypocritical and alarming acts.

Referencing a Wall Street Journal article entitled “Disney Decides to Go for Woke” by Gerard Baker, Sam Sorbo lays down the groundwork for why the company’s agenda is reason for families to consider canceling their Disney+ subscription all together.

Fifty years ago, the tendencies of Disney today would be seen as self-destructive and a recipe for a company’s downfall, but instead “Disney banks on their cultural capital to sustain them,” Sorbo said, because their agenda fits like a puzzle piece into the rest of the culture’s subtly damaging practices.

In his article, Baker pinpoints the ways Disney believes in sexualizing young children, including the many charges made against Disney employees for sex trafficking.

Sorbo shares how the company is intent on distorting the “Parental Rights and Education Bill,” which was created to combat critical race and gender theory.

If Disney is choosing to support race and gender ideologies set up by the surrounding culture, they would need to get rid of their entire library of shows and movies to stay politically consistent.

Although it seems Disney is giving up the white patriarchy for Lent, and despite many liberal comments made to make the viewpoints of conservatives seem hateful and non-inclusive, Sorbo emphasizes the need for parents to stay true to their biblical convictions.

She encourages them to raise their children in the truth by not falling for the “hypersexualized youth” message hidden in the cracks of Disney’s repertoire.

Whether or not you and your family are contemplating canceling the beloved company’s monthly subscription, this episode is full of facts to help inform your decision.
