Three months after tying the knot, Kathleen and Boaz Bryant found out they were expecting their first child. Although hope rapidly turned to devastation when doctors told them “You’re probably going to lose this baby,” God showed up in ways beyond their understanding.

On an episode of Parent Compass, the Bryants share how one prayer turned their son’s story of tragedy beyond healing into a divine miracle that even had doctors asking “How?”

Diagnosed with endometriosis at thirteen and told she would never be able to have kids, getting pregnant was a miracle in and of itself for Kathleen. However, the difficulties started for the Bryants when Kathleen went into labor at five months and they welcomed their son, Isaiah, into the world six weeks later.

Bringing home their son just three days after with underdeveloped lungs, the Bryants share how Isaiah was never healthy, cried all the time, and never made eye contact with them.

After he slept through the night for the first time at six months old, the two exhausted parents thought they were finally getting to the light at the end of the tunnel.

But when they found Isaiah burning up and unable to wake him, a trip to the pediatrician and an urgent visit to the emergency room told them otherwise.

When spinal meningitis reverberated from the doctor into their trembling hearts, putting their son in a forty-eight-hour coma-like state and threatening to put a period on any glimmer of hope, the deafening question lingered: “Are we still going to serve the Lord if Isaiah dies?” Kathleen said.

With the hospital in full hazmat gear doing everything to save Isaiah’s life, family and friends gathered to pray.

“There’s really nothing God can’t do,” Kathleen says as she describes the moment Isaiah sat up, threw up, and started smiling at them following a bold prayer of faith.

“It was God,” Boaz said, “He’s still in the healing business.” With no human explanation at play, Isaiah was fully healed of the disease that could have ended his life.

Don’t miss this incredible story of faith anchored in God’s promises and discover how to this day, Isaiah is beating all the odds stacked against him from the womb.
