USPS Driver in Tears When Man Surprises Her After Good Deed

What fun to see a Bible verse come to life when one USPS driver who was “faithful in a very little” (Luke 16:10, ESV) was then trusted to be faithful with much!

A Los Angeles postal worker named Debbie was loading up parcels when jewelry designer and activist Isaiah Garza approached her pretending he needed a dollar to get a bus home.

According to Unilad, Garza often posts videos to his social media documenting his random acts of kindness and efforts to “give back.”

In the video, viewers can hear the exchange between the two:

“I’m trying to get extra change to get home on the bus,” Garza says. “I wanted to see if you possibly had an extra dollar or two.”

Debbie responded without hesitation. “You can take my last $5. Here take it, you can have it,” she says as she hands him the note.

“Are you serious?” Garza asks about her good deed. “Can I ask you why you were willing to do that though?”

“Why?! I always help people,” she says.

Garza then surprised Debbie with the gift of $300. He explains he had planned to give to the first person who responded to his plea.

Debbie is overwhelmed and can be seen crying in the video, at a loss for words except to say that she always “believes in helping.” Garza then produced another $100 to bless her with another surprise.

CBS posted the video to their Facebook page:

The video struck a nerve and has been viewed over 1.1 million times. It gives us joy to see someone who takes care of others receive back for their good deed.

Garza’s followers have fallen in love with Debbie and have been inspired by her sweet, generous spirit.

Garza announced that Debbie has plans to retire. This woman who is always giving to others, including giving food to many of the homeless on her route, is being celebrated by many.

At the news of her retirement, people are commenting with praise for her.

“Oh my heart!!! She is a blessing and so are you!!! I can’t smile big enough! God Bless you!!!” one commenter wrote.

“Let’s change Debbie’s life, she’s so deserving,” another said. “Love this lady!”

“Can we see Debbie again?” someone else asked. “Maybe surprise her at her retirement party?”

Proverbs 11:25, NIV, says, “A generous person will prosper; whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.” Debbie is now living, social media proof that is true.

She continues doing good deeds as she gives us all a lesson in generosity and humble grace. No doubt after her retirement, this USPS worker will continue to deliver joy to her community!
