Samaritan Rushes to Driver's Aid After School Bus Completely Destroyed in Crash
Thank God, there were no children on the bus when it crashed!
Emergency crews were called to the scene of a school bus crash in Forest Hills, Pennsylvania early this week.
KDKA reports, “The driver of a school bus was seriously injured when the bus slammed into the steel support pillar of the famous welcome sign at the entrance to Forest Hills.”
The driver had just dropped children off at the local school. He was transported to the hospital in stable condition, largely thanks to the support and assistance of a Good Samaritan.
Kenny Ferree, a witness to the crash, climbed up beside the driver, removed his shirt, and wrapped it around the driver’s head as he held him. It took rescuers about 30 minutes to free the injured driver from the wreckage.
“‘I told him my name. He told me his name. We had a little conversation. He wasn’t sure what was going on,’ Ferree said.”
According to WPXI, Ferree was driving down the road with his wife when “they heard a loud boom and yellow debris flying through the air.”
“When you looked over, you could not believe that anything or anybody was left,” the good Samaritan said. “It disintegrated.”
Pictures taken at the scene show the complete destruction of the front of the school bus and yet, miraculously, the driver was extricated alive.

Once Ferree determined there were no children and no other staff on the bus, he focused on keeping pressure on a large gash on the side of the driver’s head and keeping him calm.
He watched the paramedics work to rescue the driver and hoped for the best.
The Samaritan interrupted his day to calm and care for a total stranger in need. Certainly, an act of extraordinary kindness.
“What’s amazing is I was running late today,” Ferree said. “Tell me why?”
