There is No Such Thing As "Your Truth"

Jesus had many counter-culture messages, arguably one of the most contentious was found in John 14.

“I am the way, and the truth, and the life,” John 14:6, ESV.

In a world that isn’t quite sure how to define truth, such absolutes may seem offensive. Some will say, “Everyone has to find their own truth! What’s true for you may not be true for me.”

But the Bible is clear: there is a definition of truth and it is found in Jesus Christ.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God,” John 1:1, ESV.

The Bible, through the Holy Spirit, reveals what truth is.

Have you ever met someone whose definition of truth changes depending on what is going on around them? Or maybe that has been your reality.

Maybe it seems easier than drawing a hard line in the sand. After all, it may seem “loving” to accept everyone’s version of truth and not push anything that is black and white.

But truth doesn’t change with what is popular. It doesn’t change with your feelings.

There is no “Your truth” only “THE truth.” “Your truth” isn’t truth … it is just your opinion.

When truth is relative, there are no absolutes, and that is a scary reality to live in! Just look at any culture who has abandoned absolute truth and where it took them morally.

Without absolute truth, you will inevitably become void of any moral accountability. Without truth, there is only bondage.

“And you will know the truth and the truth will set you free,” John 8:32, ESV.

The beautiful thing about truth is, it doesn’t have to be hard to find. The gospel tells us that God came as a man, Jesus, to die for our sins and reveal His truth to the world!
