When words of comfort and faith come through your 4-year-old, you know you’re doing something right as a mom.

Newsweek reports “The Princess of Wales revealed during a special meeting with well-wishers outside Windsor Castle on Saturday that her youngest son, Prince Louis, had offered her words of comfort following the death of Queen Elizabeth II at the age of 96.”

Kate, formerly Duchess of Cambridge and now Princess of Wales, joined her husband, Prince William, as well as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle to view all the tributes the public have left in memory of the beloved queen along the castle’s long walk on Saturday evening UK time.

The appearance was the first time the two couples have joined forces in public since 2020 when the Sussexes moved to the United States. Each couple greeted members of the public gathered to mourn and honor the late queen, splitting up to cover both sides of the walkway.

In a video posted to People’s Facebook page, Kate can be heard speaking with children in the crowd. She shared the sweet and faith-filled words Louis had spoken to her earlier.

“‘The whole nation’s having to be brave aren’t they?’ she said to one mourner. ‘Don’t worry I have plenty of moments like this too. My little Louis, he’s so sweet. He said: ‘Mommy don’t worry because she’s now with great-grandpa.'”

The Princess of Wales observed that the incredible outpouring of affection demonstrates the impact of the queen, whose Christian faith was central to her life. “I mean, it just shows how special she was to everybody, whole generations.”

Commenters on social media applauded both Kate and Louis.

“It was so nice seeing Kate taking her time and talking to everyone especially the kids!”

“LOUIS is so adorable…wish I can hug him……love you all….”

Louis’ great-grandfather Prince Philip, who died in 2021, was married to Queen Elizabeth II for 73 years.

Kate’s comments are a reminder that while the world mourns a queen, her family mourns a mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother.

Prince William issued this statement:

“On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the country, the Realms and the Commonwealth was absolute. So much will be said in the days ahead about the meaning of her historic reign,” it read.

“I, however, have lost a grandmother. And while I will grieve her loss, I also feel incredibly grateful. I have had the benefit of The Queen’s wisdom and reassurance into my fifth decade.”

The love of the family, of all those who called her their queen, and of the global community has been apparent this week.

But, in the words Queen Elizabeth II spoke in the aftermath of September 11 attacks in the United States, “Grief is the price we pay for love.”
