Couple Use Apple AirTag to Track Lost Luggage, Share Mesmerizing Results on TikTok
There are very few things that can make travel more frustrating than lost luggage.
When luggage must be checked, there’s a mild anxiety that wells up as one watches one’s luggage get moved from the front desk to the conveyor belt and slowly slide away to the loading area.
Fortunately, there have been some wonderful inventions that have hit the market and allow passengers to track their luggage once it leaves their hands. One savvy couple who took advantage of Apple AirTag shared their hilarious video story on TikTok, and it went viral with over 880,000 upvotes.
Jenny Antunes uses the TikTok handle jennyantuness. Her amusing caption read: “When your luggage sees more of Portugal than you.”

The story became quite the drama involving the crazy journey of her boyfriend’s luggage, which was left behind in Toronto. The Apple Air Tag device and corresponding app allowed them to track the luggage until it was returned to him.
If misdirected luggage could be included in frequent flier miles, Antunes’ boyfriend would have been racking them up. The Toronto airport is about 3,576 miles away from the Lisbon, Portugal airport, or a flight time of about seven hours and five minutes.
So after leaving Toronto, the luggage went to the beach over in Figueira Da Foz, about an hour away from the Lisbon, Portugal airport — and maybe met someone interesting who decided to take it home for a while?
And then perhaps that person noticed the tracking device inside? The video suggests it was in someone’s house for a little while before being shuffled off to a warehouse in Lisbon near the house.
It did, however, eventually wind up back at the airport. And five days later, Antunes and her boyfriend were notified it had arrived back at the airport and they could come and pick it up.
It was a joyous reunion between owner and luggage as the video showed Antunes’ grinning boyfriend pulling his luggage along behind in the end.
