Baseball Coach With "Bigger Purpose" Puts Faith on Full Display
Every Christian parent looks for someone both godly and successful to whom they can point their children as an example for helping them to reconcile their faith and talents in a world that’s corrupt. One successful Christian coach and former athlete that recognizes that the Lord has provided him with a platform to be a light in a dark world is Coach Cliff Godwin.
Godwin has shown himself to be an been an incredible coach for the Pirates, leading them into obtaining two conference tournament titles, three titles during regular season, and appearances in several NCAA tournaments, the most recent being against Cincinnati this year.

Godwin has a true heart for not only coaching, but also teaching baseball. Along with his history to develop and coach young baseball players, he also created his own baseball camp that offers in-person camp opportunities as well as instructional videos at the camp website.
The website boasts of offering camps for all ages and skill levels. The camps are held in Greenville, North Carolina, and have proven to be quite beneficial to the recruiting process. Parents are highly encouraged to watch their child participate in camp.
Godwin doesn’t hide his faith. His twitter page displays various scriptures passages inspiring the reader to cultivate a consistent positive focus for their daily meditation, along with various baseball game video clip highlights.

On Cliff Godwin Media Day 2022, as he recalled the tragic loss of the father of one of his players, he shared, “The winning and losing, I know that fans are going to judge me one day, but this fall probably helped me to realize like, at the end of the day — no offense — I don’t care how many games I win, I’ve got a bigger purpose on this planet than to just win baseball games.”
