Think you’ve done everything you can to find a new job? Think again.

A North Carolina woman has set the bar for creative approaches to getting noticed when seeking employment!

“Karly Pavlinac Blackburn, 27, of North Carolina recently sent her resume to Nike — on a cake”, according to People.

Karly, who is actively looking for a job in branding/marketing shared her story on her LinkedIn page.

“A couple of weeks ago I sent my resume on a cake to Nike. Yes, an edible resume on top of a cake.”

“Nike was having a huge celebration for JDI day (Just Do It day). LeBron James, Colin Kaepernick + Other Megastars were at the event. I had done some research and found a division within Nike called Valiant Labs which is a startup incubator for Nike ideas.”

“They are not currently hiring for any positions on that team, but I wanted to find some way for the team to know who I was. What better way than to send a cake to a big party.”

Karly used Instacart to deliver the cake and while she didn’t get a job at Nike (yet), she did inspire the woman who made the delivery.

Denise Baldwin made sure to get through all barriers to deliver that cake into the right hands. Karly’s sweet and creative approach reminded Denise that she has greater aspirations than to be a delivery person.

“Baldwin told TODAY that ensuring the delivery was executed with care and attention was essential. After all, she knows what it’s like to be a woman with career ambitions. She takes pride in her work but has resolved to get into a new career.”

The two women have become friends and even begun a mentoring relationship. They are seeking new jobs together now, cheering one another on and inspiring even more creativity in one another and in others.

The friends have not only motivated one another but revived the hopes and creativity of many job seekers who have learned of the story. Their story has even garnered invitations to apply for jobs on LinkedIn:

“I love the creativity of this! I see some marketing experience on there and wanted to let you know that I’m currently hiring for a marketing lead! “

“In a world of digital interaction, this is amazing. I love the level of creativity. It’s well planned, unique, and stands out above the rest. Your name will be known at your dream company.
You have inspired others, you’ve made many, myself included, smile and laugh and admire your tenacity!”

And of course, it must be said, this approach to getting noticed certainly takes the cake!
