Watch: Rescue Dog Learns How To Paint with His Tongue, Goes Viral
We all believe our dogs are special but this dog truly lives up to his name.
Van Gogh, a one-eared rescue dog, paints with his tongue!
Happily Furever After Rescue is a no-kill, foster-based organization based out of Bethel, Connecticut.
They told WOFL, “Van Gogh, a 7-year-old boxer-pit bull mix was rescued from a North Carolina dog fighting ring, which left him with severe injuries, including a mutilated ear and several lacerations throughout his body.”
When his ear needed to be amputated, naming him after the famous Dutch painter was a logical step.
What took creativity, vision, and a bit of humor was to engage Van Gogh in creating works of art. That was an idea developed by Jaclyn Gartner, founder of the rescue, who decided to implement an idea she’d seen on TikTok.
She placed a canvas with paint inside a plastic bag coated with peanut butter.
“Dogs get a special treat and in turn, create beautiful works of art. With the name Van Gogh, I thought it would make for a fun idea for an event since he has been unable to attend our adoption events being dog selective.”
Mornings on the Dove featured Van Gogh and people have fallen in love.
“Van Gogh is such a special dog, and he deserves all the attention he’s getting from people and rescue supporters from all over the world!”
The center had a showing of Van Gogh’s art to raise funds and to try to find a family for the talented dog. They were disappointed when only two people showed up but since then, video of their prodigy has gone viral.
Their hope is that soon, with all the love that’s coming his way, Van Gogh will find his “furever home.”
Gartner added, “Simply put, Van Gogh is a complete heartthrob. Anyone who meets him instantly falls in love. He is well-mannered and has the sweetest demeanor. Despite all the trauma he has endured, he still loves people and is always in good spirits. He wants nothing more than to cuddle up next to his person on the couch and be by your side.”
We can all root for this sweet, one-eared, artistic canine to find that perfect someone who will love him through sunny days and, of course, through starry, starry nights.
