Everyone gathered to say their final goodbyes to Queen Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch in England’s history, on September 19, 2022 at Westminster Abbey. While the world mourns, everyone’s eyes were on those who were closest to her.
In honor of the queen, Kate, Princess of Wales, wore a four-strand pearl necklace that was gifted to her by Elizabeth II. This was not the first time the princess donned the stunning piece.
Kate had also worn the necklace to the funeral of Prince Philip last year, according to Good Morning, America. Before her, the necklace was also worn by her late mother-in-law, Diana, Princess of Wales.
While the Princess of Wales always turns heads, it was her daughter, Princess Charlotte, who stole the spotlight. The 7-year-old princess was dressed in a black coat dress and a matching black hat, according to Today.
While her outfit was worthy of a young princess, it was the accessory on her dress that melted hearts.
On the upper left-side of her dress, Princess Charlotte wore a diamond horseshoe-shaped brooch. Kensington Palace confirmed that the brooch has sentimental meaning to the princess. It was gifted to her by Queen Elizabeth II, who had a love for horses, according to Good Morning, America.

The queen’s coffin left Westminster Abbey and was brought to Wellington Arch before heading to Windsor Castle. According to Today, the queen’s private burial ceremony will take place later in the day at the King George VI Memorial Chapel.
