Michael Jr.: 3 Easy Ways To Bring More Laughter Into Your Life

Linkedin Share

Would you like more laughter in your marriage and family? Comedian Michael Jr. and his wife share their practical and fun tips in a giggle-filled interview with clinical psychologist, Dr. Les Parrott.

Dr. Parrott asked the couple if they laugh all the time at home. Ebony and Michael Jr. acknowledged people think they’re always laughing since he’s a comedian but there are other moments, as well. Dr. Parrott said people assume he and his therapist wife sit around analyzing each other, too.

Ebony admitted that there’s a “healthy amount of laughter in our family.” The couple encourage other couples to be intentional about finding laughter and creating opportunities for it.

They list easy three easy ways to bring more laughter into your life:

1. Access your inner child
2. Fast forward to what you want (find the humor in the situation)
3. Go somewhere and try not to laugh

Ebony shared that she works not to take herself too seriously and does this by accessing the child within her. For instance, she will sometimes hear a family member arriving home and hide somewhere so she can jump out and scare them.

Michael urged couples to fast forward to what you want. “People always say something took place and at the time it wasn’t funny but looking back at it now, it’s funny. Well, why wait all that time?”

He explained what that involves. “Like actually, make the choice right now to look at it through those eyes. You can find the humor in it right then and there instead of waiting all of that time.

“I mean, instead of waiting for it to become a funny story, recognize that it already is and that will immediately bring more joy because of the story but also, you’ll learn how just to do that naturally, and start asking the question ‘what’s funny about this?’ Like literally just start asking that question a little more, if you do it twice a day, it could change the game.”

Finally, the couple encouraged others to go to funny movies, watch funny shows, or go somewhere and try NOT to laugh!
