Matthew West: "God Doesn't JUST Love You ..."
Matthew West, prolific Christian singer and songwriter, is delivering a powerful message about God’s love for us.
At the same time, he wants believers to be aware of the reality of evil and the tactics the devil uses against followers of Jesus.
Matthew began writing a song during the pandemic which became “The God Who Stays.”
During an interview with Billy Hallowell of CBN News, West stated that the song was a hit, but when he saw how it was resonating with others, he realized he had to go deeper.
“So, I wound up writing a chapter by chapter book that I, myself, Matthew West, follower of Christ, needed. A chapter by chapter reminder of all the ways that God has stayed faithful in my life and will continue to do so no matter what hills or valleys I might find myself going through.”
“The God Who Stays: Life Looks Different with Him by Your Side” is that book. It’s aimed at building up Christians’ faith.
Matthew loves to tell stories. This book is full of stories from his life and the different experiences he’s had with God through the years.
West says he laughed and cried while writing this book, a book he feels he needed, so he hopes others need it, too.
According to Faithwire, West wants believers to be aware of Satan’s tactics that are designed to keep us from a full experience of God. The isolation of the pandemic was evidence of one of those tactics.
“‘Here’s what I know: Throughout history, one of the enemy’s main tactics in people’s lives and to derail us is to isolate us,’ West told CBN’s Faithwire. ‘The enemy doesn’t just want to knock you down; he wants to keep you down.'”
“‘In the darkness, in the shadows, that’s where that isolation is, that’s where depression is, that’s where loneliness is, that’s where shame lives — in the shadows,’ the Christian music star said.”
Loneliness continues to be rampant in our society. West believes that we all need to share our stories. When we share our stories, then they’re not “in the shadows, they’re in the light.”
West doesn’t want our focus to be on the enemy’s darkness but on the power of God’s light. “We have a God who calls us out of the darkness and into His marvelous light.”
Telling our stories helps us feel less alone. It helps us find our way to each other and together to remember God’s faithfulness in all things.
Singer, songwriter, and now author, Matthew West is certainly also an encourager of believers, sharing the encouragement he has received from God.
“God doesn’t just love you,” West says, “He likes you.”
Every day, He wants to walk with you. Simple, profound, often hard to believe, but true.
