“Heartland” Actor Dead at Age 33
Sad news for the family, friends, and fans of “Heartland” actor, Robert Cormier, who has died at the age of 33.
The team at Heartland posted a tribute to Cormier, who played Finn Cotter on the long-running family drama, on their Facebook page and plan to dedicate Season 16 to the actor, whose death was unexpected.
In the post, Cormier was described as a “kind-hearted, talented actor” who was “passionate about art and film.”
According to his obituary, Cormier, died on Friday, September 23rd. His sister, Stephanie, told the Hollywood Reporter that he suffered injuries in a fall and died at “a hospital in Etobicoke, Ontario.” The article describes Cormier as a “Toronto-born bartender-turned-actor” who studied economics before breaking into acting.
People obtained statements from his family on Wednesday. “Robbie was loved by many and his unexpected death has left us devastated. While we are broken-hearted, we take comfort in the overwhelming love and support shown to our family by Robbie’s friends, colleagues and fans. Robbie passed away as the result of a tragic accident.”
“Our family would like to thank everyone at the Critical Care team in Toronto for the compassionate care they provided Robbie and the kindness they showed our family. We will be forever grateful.”
The family also asked for privacy as they continue to grieve Cormier’s death.
The young actor, who admired Jean-Claude Van Damme, had appeared on several series including Heartland, Netflix’s Slasher, Ransom, American Gods, and Designated Survivor. He is survived by his parents, Robert and Lisa; sisters Brittany, Krystal and Stephanie; and grandmother Joanne.
Amber Marshall, his co-actor on Heartland, posted a statement on Instagram remembering him as a “joy to be around,” gentle with the animals, and having an “infectious smile and a big heart.”

In his obituary, his family recorded how they will always remember him.
“Robert was an athlete, an actor, and a great brother. He had a passion for helping others and was always looking to achieve more. He enjoyed movie nights with his family, and looked up greatly to his father.”
“He impacted many people throughout his life whether it was family, teammates and friends. Rob’s memory will live on through his passion for art and film; as well as his three sisters who meant the world to him.”
