Hallmark Christmas Movies Inspire Celebrity To Uproot Family: Goodbye L.A., Hello Rural Tennessee

Hollywood star decides to uproot her family and move to rural Tennessee to be closer to nature.

Sound like the plot of a Hallmark Christmas movie?

It could be, but it’s also the real life decision Danica McKellar and her husband, attorney Scott Sveslovsky, have made for their family, which includes McKellar’s son Draco (whom she shares with ex Mike Verta) and her mother, Mahalia.

“I am just loving the fact that my Christmas movie characters have rubbed off on me. I think it’s just a wonderful example of life imitating art.” That’s what the actress told PEOPLE about the move they made just this past summer, to a home one hour outside Nashville.

It’s a big change for McKellar who has lived in Los Angeles since she was seven.

She’s began acting in The Wonder Years but her most recent movie, Christmas at the Drive-In, releases on November 25 on The Great American Movie Channel.

The Hallmark actress, now appearing on The Great American Movie Channel, tweeted that she will be live tweeting from her new home on the date of the new movie’s premier.

McKellar told PEOPLE, “she recently decided to embrace a slower pace of life farther from the spotlight by moving to a rural homestead in Tennessee. Now, she’s settling in just as the festive winter season kicks off and enjoying all that small-town life has to offer.”

She feels she’s finally found her “perfect blend of nature, family and art.” She and Sveslovsky love being near the music, entertainment, and creative scene in Nashville while also having a big backyard for their family.

She’s looking forward to holidays in the winter weather of Tennessee.

The Daily Wire noted that McKellar’s family join the growing ranks of celebrities moving out of L.A. including Matthew McConaughey and wife Camila Alves, who moved with their three children to Texas, singer Katy Perry who relocated to Kentucky, and “Dawson’s Creek” actor James Van Der Beek, who moved with his large family to a 36-acre ranch in Texas.

Matthew McConaughey’s wife, Camila Alves, reflected recently on the change. “It’s been great. It really embodies our belief system, especially the ones I grew up with, like going to church every Sunday, saying ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘no, sir.’”

How about you? Are you ready to make a move inspired by Christmas movies?

Or, like McKellar, are you just ready for the holidays?

“I’m gonna have a Christmas tree up probably next week,” she told PEOPLE in early November. “Let’s get this going.”
