House for sale! The ideal home for lovers of green eggs and ham or people who have one red fish and one blue fish!

That’s right! “The home of Theodor Geisel, better known to the world as ‘Dr. Seuss,’ is now for sale for the first time in 75 years,” according to KSWB-TV. The home, a 5000-square foot estate overlooks the La Jolla coastline in San Diego.

“With views stretching from Catalina to Tijuana, it’s not hard to understand where the writer got his inspiration. The four-acre property is offered for sale at just under $19 million with the proceeds slated to benefit the University of California San Diego.”

The home, which will be auctioned off in a blind auction on August 17th boasts views from Catalina to Tijuana. It’s easy to see why this beloved children‘s author chose this location with inspiration out every window!

“This is one that I think my adrenaline picks up every time I drive up the hill and think about the history here. And one thing that really captures my attention is that if you had every resource financially and could choose anywhere in the world to live, he chose to live here,” Ryan McGovern, one of the agents representing the home, was reported as saying.

KSWB-TV reporter, Jaime Chambers, walking through the home stated it’s “as imaginative as the author was himself. And every time you enter a room, you exit that room in a different room that you didn’t realize existed!” Many of his famous children’s books were written in the home.

Dr. Seuss acquired the property in 1948. It was known then as “The Tower.” His neighbors just called him Ted but it was here that he “transformed into Dr. Seuss” and with the help of architect, Tom Shepherd, built the unique property seen in the video. It’s the first time the property with it’s “Cat in the hat” doors and “Bow-tie” pool have been on the market in 75 years.

Will you be it’s next owner? Where will your imagination take you? Oh, the places we’ll go—perhaps to a hill in La Jolla, San Diego!
