This story has a happy ending — and who isn’t looking for more of those these days!

Sadly, before the happiness, there was heartbreak. KDVR in Denver reported a story that might have ended in bitterness and despair.

A disabled homeowner, John Frank, believed a man who said he was a landscaper. When the man said he would make improvements that would make it easier for Frank to maintain his home, he was happy to sign on.

The alleged landscaper, Anthony Martinez, produced a contract and John Frank paid $4,650 up front for the work. Martinez was scheduled to begin work on August 12th but by September 25th, Frank had yet to see any workers and could not reach Martinez. The alleged contractor’s phone was shut off and he didn’t respond to email.

“I feel that I got ripped off. He took advantage of a disabled person,” John Frank told KDVR. “Obviously, I’m in a wheelchair. I can’t really do the yard.”

Local news Problem Solvers tried to track down the contractor but were unsuccessful.

Fortunately, there was a good Samaritan watching this report when it aired.

KDVR updated their report with this stellar news. “Minutes after seeing the story on FOX31, Neighborhood Lawn Care owner Hector Alderete contacted the Problem Solvers and offered to help Frank.”

His employees worked together to provide over $17,000 worth of work and repairs to Frank’s property free of charge.

“It was more about his story, it just touched my heart and I felt like doing it. It was nothing about the money,” Alderete said.

According to Faithwire, the disabled man was overjoyed. “I think it’s great…They were very professional. We need to hear the positive, make people know there’s hope, and that good things can happen,” Frank said through tears.

Alderete’s team of angels isn’t even done giving back to this deserving citizen. They plan to return throughout the summer to pull weeds.
