Couple Stunned to Find Bruised Baby Abandoned in Their Shed

It’s good to know that at the end of some abuse stories, there is rescue, justice, and the hope of redemption.

In Livingston, Texas, Katherine and John McClain woke Saturday morning to disturbing footage on their security cameras.

According to KHOU11 Tv, the couple spotted a “mostly naked man” attempting to steal their locked vehicles. He did steal a neighbor’s truck, which was probably the sound that woke the couple.

They alerted their neighbors to the theft but then noticed their dog, Archie, was on the security camera barking at their shed. John went out to investigate.

That’s when he discovered the bruised and injured baby girl.

“When I opened it up (the door to the shed), the baby was laying right by the motorcycle right there,” John said.

“Katharine said the dispatcher told her it was OK to pick up the baby, which she did, before taking her up to the house.”

They wrapped the 9-month-old in a towel and cradled her until rescue arrived.

John told Inside Edition, “She didn’t cry, she just sort of looked up, smiling at me.”

“‘She had bruises all over, all over her body pretty much. She looked so tired,’ Katharine said. Doctors later determined the child also had a broken leg.”

Katherine’s distress and compassion for the little one were evident in her Facebook post and her update when they learned police had identified the man on the video as the baby’s father.

According to KIRO7, “Police confirmed to the TV station that the stolen truck was found a short while later with the child’s father behind the wheel. He faces multiple charges, including abandoning or endangering a child, according to Polk County Jail records.”

They also confirmed that the baby is being treated for her injuries at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston.

As terrible as it is to imagine what this baby has endured, it’s comforting to know she found safe harbor with this loving couple.

Katherine writes, “When I held her she just sank into my arms. I could feel her totally relax when I held her. She knew she was finally safe. I can’t even imagine what she’s been through. Bless her sweet heart. Keep this baby in your prayers yall!!”

Thank God that Archie, the schnauzer, was on the alert. That little dog saved the day for this baby girl and with his owners, was able to get her to safety and, hopefully, a redemptive end to a harsh chapter in a little life.
