Betty White's Possessions to be Sold at Auction, Including Wedding Ring
Possessions don’t make a life, but they can remind us of those who brought joy and laughter to ours.
Betty White’s possessions will be auctioned on “Julien’s Auctions Presents ‘Property from the Life and Career of Betty White'” from September 23rd to the 25th. Photos and a link are available on Julien’s Auctions’ Facebook page.
In a 2011 interview with Time Goes By, Betty was asked about how she was coping with the grief of losing her beloved husband, Allen Ludden. She replied, “There’s no formula. Keep busy with your work and your life. You can’t become a professional mourner. It doesn’t help you or others. Keep the person in your heart all the time. Replay the good times. Be grateful for the years you had.”
This is great advice for fans who have missed the witty, engaging comedian since her death on December 31, 2021, just shy of her 100th birthday on January 17th of the next year.
According to People, “Betty White fans will soon be able to bid for a piece of the beloved star’s legacy. Julien’s Auctions will offer up more than 1,500 lots from the TV icon’s life and career during a three-day event in Beverly Hills (and online) beginning Sept. 23.”
“Items will include awards, scripts, wardrobe and memorabilia from her iconic television shows and films, as well as furnishings, artwork, fine jewelry, household and personal items from her beloved homes in Brentwood and Carmel, California,” People said.
Among the items listed are her wedding ring from her loving marriage to Ludden, a vintage Van Cleef & Arpels brooch, her on set seat from “The Golden Girls”, along with special scripts and outfits from that beloved television show.
Betty was a favorite actress for many years for her work as a game show panelist and then as a regular on “The Mary Tyler Moore Show”, “The Golden Girls”, and “Hot in Cleveland.”
She received numerous awards and accolades and is the subject of the 2018 documentary “Betty White: First Lady of Television.”
“In 1999, she told PEOPLE she looked to make the most of every day. ‘You better realize how good life is while it’s happening,’ she said. ‘Because before you know it, it will all be gone.'”
If there’s anyone who clearly made the most of every day, it’s Betty White. She brought us joy while she lived and provides precious memories and inspiration even now.
