Alligator Attack Nearly Kills Air Force Vet, Now He's Pointing People to Jesus

If you’ve never seen a walking miracle, Juan Carlos La Verde (who is known as JC Defeats), an Air Force veteran, says you’re seeing one now in his survival from a deadly alligator attack.

According to WTVT, JC was recording an instructional video for his new company Defeat-X on August 3rd in Lake Thonotosassa using a drone.

So focused on filming, JC didn’t take his usual safety precautions and just began swimming. The drone footage captures the alligator (estimated to be about 12-feet long) heading right toward the vet.

“The jaws of the gator came down on his head and upper torso. The attack lasted only seconds, but JC tells us the entire time he knew he would make it out alive.”

He recalled having “An unbelievable amount of faith in myself that I wasn’t going to die. I was going to be OK, but I needed to act for sure.”

JC, a paramedic and firefighter, spoke with WFTS stating, “When I felt the teeth, I immediately knew, and then as I opened it I knew that I either turned it or it turned me, but it was confused just as I was confused, and then it just let go,” JC said.

The injured vet then called 911 and endured a six-hour emergency surgery to repair damage from the attack.

Inside Edition posted this video showing the drone footage of the attack as well as Defeat’s extensive head injuries.

Having survived the unsurvivable, JC has a message for everyone who will listen, “Find your God. Find Him. It’s silly. I get that that’s scary, I do, but life is a scary place, so you can carry that load by yourself or have someone carry it for you.”

In an article on Faithwire, JC’s wife calls him a “walking miracle.” JC is facing more surgeries in the future. The alligator broke his jaw (now wired shut) and impaired a facial nerve.

“Despite all he’s been through, though, La Verde is using his newfound platform to point people to his ultimate hope and assurance: Faith in Jesus Christ. ‘I’m asking you to be tough because the world is a really difficult place, and, man, is it challenging to maneuver without God and ultimately Jesus Christ in your heart.'”
