In our society, the negative often seems to overshadow the positive. It has become normal to see the evil that mankind is capable of. Here’s a story, while a few years old, that deserves to be re-shared in the hope of restoring some faith in humanity.

Three years ago, Marc Walsh, a disabled veteran in Detroit, Michigan, ended up losing his wallet on the walk home from the store. The wallet contained Walsh’s credit cards, military ID, and more than $200 cash.

“I was really distraught,” Walsh said in an interview. “I’m self-employed and I don’t make a ton of money, and I have to hustle for the money that I do make. So, having cash in there and not having it, I was pretty torn up about it.”

The next day, Walsh’s home security camera caught something miraculous: two teenage girls standing in front of the camera, with one of them holding up his wallet. To Walsh’s surprise, all of the contents in his wallet were still inside, including his cash.

Twin sisters Makhia and Makyla Vincent discovered the wallet while walking on their way to school. When looking in the wallet, they saw Walsh’s military ID, which reminded them of their grandfather who was also a veteran, and knew what they were going to do without hesitation.

“Basically, you just have to make the right decision,” Makyla said. “We knew we had to return the wallet to the rightful person.”

Wanting to thank the sisters, Walsh got in contact with the media and rewarded them for their honesty by gifting them the money that they had returned.

“With children like that in the world I’m hopeful for the future,” Walsh said.

Seeing these twin sisters go out of their way to deliver a lost wallet goes to show that no matter the age, there are still good people left in the world, which should give us all hope.
