Samaritan Hears Tiny Cries for Help After Someone Dumps Puppies in Creek
Paws 4 the Cause, a non-profit organization in Lexington, Kentucky, took to social media to express gratitude to a Good Samaritan that saved the lives of a dog and her puppies.
According to the rescue’s Facebook account, the Good Samaritan was driving home from work when she saw someone dumping a dog and her three puppies.
“The puppies had fallen into the creek and were in a panic crying, while they tried to fine dry land,” the rescue wrote. “The good samaritan quickly scooped them up and taken home to dry off and went back to find momma.”
The Good Samaritan came back the next day and rescued the scared mother, with the help of others.
Paws 4 the Cause shared the puppies and their mothers’ condition on their Facebook account. “One of the puppies has a bad skin infection, which will be getting antibiotics and medicated bath,” they wrote.
“The others had a good flea bath, dewormer and their 1st. puppy shot. Momma is getting a flea bath, dewormer, shots and antibiotics because she has an infection.”
Anita Spreitzer, the vice president and general manager of Paws 4 the Cause, told WLEX that this was the second incident involving abandoning animals in the same area within the same week.
“We see a lot of the dogs that never get rescued,” Spreitzer said. “We see dogs that end up in bad situations. We’ve had some rescuers in some of these rural areas that found puppies already deceased in bags thrown into the river, so I don’t know what makes people so desperate, but it breaks our heart.”
According to WLEX, the staff at Paws 4 the Cause believe that finances are to blame for the increase of pet surrenders.
“They can’t feed themselves so how do they feed the animals? Instead of letting them starve to death they make a rash decision,” Spreitzer said. “If you ask for help and we can give you help we are gonna do it.”
Paws 4 the Cause is currently looking for fosters to take in the mother and three puppies. Thank the Lord for this good Samaritan. Thanks to her, this mom and her three puppies get a second chance at at life.
