Stelio Savante has been an actor in Hollywood for decades. Savante, who is originally from South Africa, portrays a lot of secular and inspirational roles.
Unlike many other Hollywood actors, Savante is a rarity; he is a faithful Christian who uses the Bible as a roadmap, letting it guide him in life.
When speaking about his new film “Pursuit of Freedom,” a movie about human-trafficking in the Ukraine by Russian soldiers, Savante saw this as God’s doing because the Ukrainian/Russian war had not started yet.
“I get my news from the Bible,” he told Billy Hallowell on CBN News. “That’s just where I get my news from, because the Bible told us the earth was round when scientists told us it was flat.”
“It is spiritual wisdom, and when you line up what’s happening in the world with what’s there biblically — the Bible already knows the story… The Lord already knows the end.”
Savante continued to explain how God influences filmmakers to help spread His message.
“It’s not by mistake that the Holy Spirit the same way gave men the knowledge to write God’s Word in the Bible is giving filmmakers, people who are walking faithfully and loyally, the ability to say ‘here’s a message of hope and faith, or whatever it might be, I want you to take out into the world to be seen because it’s lining up with My Word and this is what is going to change hearts and if we just change one heart, we’ve won.'”
Savante was not always a Christian. He described growing up in a broken home, plagued by divorce, violence, negativity and getting into trouble.
“I was not a happy child,” he said, noting that his life started changing when he “heard the message of Christ.”
Savante described being astonished how God worked in his life and how he gave his life to the Lord and was baptized in 1984. To his amazement, his parents, grandmother and sister all became Christians as well.
“It was just incredible,” he said.
“Pursuit of Freedom” is now in selected theaters and is also on demand.
